Unfortunately easy obstructive sleep apnea remedies are few and far between. The condition can be difficult to treat and can be very dangerous, however, there are certain things you can try that may be helpful.

One solution to obstructive sleep apnea is to lose weight. If you are overweight and experiencing sleep apnea, then the chances are you probably have other weight-related problems. Excessive body weight can cause arthritis and permanent joint damage, diabetes, heart disease, acid reflux disease, is linked to certain forms of cancer, and can wreaks havoc with your blood sugar and circulatory health. Losing weight, out of all the obstructive sleep apnea remedies there are, may just be the one that gives you the most benefit overall to your general health! So altough it’s hard and, it can be beneficial not just for your sleep but for your entire system.

Other remedies that are good for obstructive sleep apnea involve having to keep your mouth and throat moist throughout the night so that you can breathe more easily. This won’t completely stop your sleep apnea as you might still find that your airways are partially blocked by excess tissue, but if you can keep your mouth and throat moist, air can more easily pass through those areas. Try using a warm mist vaporizer or humidifier in your bedroom. Use some eucalyptus oil or menthol in it to help keep your air passages clear which will help to unblock your sinuses so that you can breathe easily through your nose or mouth. Chronic snoring can also be helped by these obstructive sleep apnea remedies.

Other simple obstructive sleep apnea remedies include keeping yourself a bit propped up when you’re in bed, so try some books or blocks under your bed’s headboard. Prop yourself up with some firm foam pillows. Avoid drinking alcohol before bedtime as alcohol relaxes your muscles and this will make them collapse all the more.

And it’s always a good idea to ask your doctor about what obstructive sleep apnea remedies he or she might recommend so that you can be sure that you’re addressing your condition properly.
